Jordan J. - Austin Special Needs Caregiver

Profile of Jordan J.

Part-Time, 7 Years of Experience

When I started working with a special needs child, he was 5 years old. His parents had already told me he had ADD and that he was extremely difficult at times, but I knew people with ADD and ADHD. I thought "how hard could it be?" Wow, was I mistaken. The first summer was horrible. There were tantrums, and screaming, and chocolate milk throwing, and kicking- lots of kicking. I could ask him to go brush his teeth and he would get distracted on the way. After the summer, I swore I would never do it again. Haha. I did three MORE summers. He is now 10 and is ADD, dyslexic, possibly has bipolar disorder, and in general is still difficult, but he is the sweetest, most innocent, loving child. I worship the ground his parents walk on for the courage, patience, and love they have provided for him.
Related Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy arts and crafts, reading books, cooking, and being outdoors especially exploring and spelunking with him and his little sister in "Fairy Land". I like playing pirates too. :)
