I grew up around children with special needs, because when I was younger, I had a special need myself. My legs were turned inwards and I had to have special care. I overcame my disability but it made me aware of how powerful people with special needs really are. I have worked with special need children and adults voluntarily. The feeling is the best thing that the heart could ever experience. This field is much more than just a job for me, it is personal. My best friend was special needs she passed away the day before high school graduation. Only someone who has experienced the love and joy of having a special need person in your life will ever understand how important she was in my life.
