I am an early childhood education major for ages birth to 5 years old for "typically" developing and special needs children. I worked with a 3-year-old boy with autism for about eight months. I moved about an hour away from them and was unable to continue playing and working with him. His mother used the Son-Rise Program. I currently help out a family with a 6-year-old boy with autism. I have also worked at a YMCA and during summer camps was paired to help a 4-year-old with Down syndrome. I have worked with children all of my life and really enjoy being around them. No matter what kind of day I am having when I go to work with children with autism I always leave with a smile. They always make me happy and excited about their newly learned skills or few minutes of affection.
