Proceeding with personal care and activities of daily living such as: bathing, shampoo, Oral hygiene, feeding as necessary.
Assisting Mobility : Transfer, Ambulation Exercise program like range of motion.
Providing homemaking or home management activities such as: shopping, laundry, errands, cleaning, meal preparation.
Elderly people have poor circulation room temperature lowering and I encourage the client to wear layers of clothing in winter. The primary aim is to maintain the normal body temperature of the elderly person. Skin changes or drying may necessitate limiting bathes and using lotions, partial bathing may be sufficient. Poor balance and slower reflexes are a basic concern in assuring a safe environment.
Persons with heart conditions should avoid rushing and sudden changes in position. Rising rapidly from the chair or bed may cause dizziness.
It depends upon the person/s condition and physical limitations. It is preferably to assist with dressing rather than doing the dressing.
Preparing meals and being sure that the older person eats them may be the most important service I provide.
Mental deteriorate: I encourage the older person to develop a variety of interests. I will make explanations slowly, keeping in mind hearing loss and slower reactions.
