I was a regular volunteer at various nursing homes during my early teenage years (13 to 15 years of age). I had a grandmother, who was ill for the past few years whom I assisted occasionally with various daily activities, as well as kept her company as she was lonely at times. My father, who is in his late forties, has been sick with debilitating disease(s) all of my life and I have grown to have the ability to best understand the best ways to help those physically and mentally sick, who need help, whether it be physical or mental ailments. I have always cared about other people and have had a selfless attitude when it came to helping those who need the assistance. At this point in my life, I am attending a community college and have been itching to do something that makes me happy as well as makes a difference in another person or persons life. I feel that helping to care for a senior would be a great opportunity for me to accomplish this. I have always been a people person and feel that I can get along with anyone no matter what race, religion, belief systems, etc.
