I cared for my mother over several years. She had several back operations and eventually developed terminal colon cancer. I took her to appointments, gave medications, helped with bathing, meals, light housekeeping, running errands. After her death, I cared for my husband for several years when he was diagnosed with mouth cancer. I gave him shots, fed him through a feeding tube, gave medications, took him to appointments for chemo and radiation and head and neck operations. The most important thing was to be a good listener, patient, compassionate and to laugh and find joy whenever possible. It's important to keep loved ones engaged mentally and when possible physically. I enjoy the company of Seniors and making their lives better.
