I have worked at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, MI for 7 years as a nurse's aide. I also worked with 2 home care companies, but my most recent job that I am currently working is private pay (not through a company) for an 86 year old male, he is 6'3", about 240 lbs., and up until he was now longer able to help at all. I could transfer him from bed to w/c, from w/c to recliner or car by myself. My duties include bathing, dressing, emptying ostomies and moving him now via hoyer lift. I prepare his meals and clean the house and try to be the best friend I can be. I believe the elderly need that human interaction. When I worked at Beaumont my duties, were to bathe, transfer, turn, ambulate, glucose monitoring, d/c of IV's and some wound care. I feel I have a lot of experience in taking on big responsibilities, and take my job very seriously.
