For 26 years now my parents have been care providers of a family care home. For 21 of those years, I was around to watch and experience what it's like to care for others. Once I turned 18, I became certified as a family care respite-meaning I am capable of doing anything they do if they are out of town, have places to go or important things to do. In doing that job I've become rather experienced with cooking, cleaning, laundry, dressing, toileting, bathing, general hygiene, dispensing medication as needed, as well as overall general supervision. Also I've done a lot of transportation. Most recently I have become a CDPA for a wonderful consumer where I also learned to become more experienced with wheelchairs, walkers and gait belts. The reason why I love senior care and home care is because the work is very rewarding. Providing for someone who can't provide for themselves and knowing you're appreciated is all I could ask for from my job. Although I may not be experienced in everything, I am always willing to learn if someone is willing to teach me. I'm very kindhearted and I enjoy making people laugh. I could be the perfect companion if that is what you are looking for.
