Assisting my elders was my first employment, working in a retirement community serving meals and being a companion for meal time. From here, it was a past time of mine to sit and listen to the stories our elders told. No matter how accurate or extended, I always walked away from my time learning something new. More recently, I cared for my mother who past from cancer in 2011. Besides being my mother, I thoroughly enjoyed taking her to and from appointments, carrying for her needs from this, being a companion, and simply listening to her stories. I also enjoyed making that last year and a half of her life living to the fullest. Helping her fulfill her bucket list, I feel was very fulfilling to myself. I truly believe I could be a great assistance with compassion for someone else.
