I have been in charge of as many as five patients in a private assisted living facility. Currently I care for one patient who has congestive heart failure, diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, and is on coumadin. He takes meds 5 times daily. My responsibilities include med. monitoring and administering, oxygen (at night) and specialized nutrition. Under my care, this patient has improved and the quality of ADL's is appreciated greatly by his family. I plan, purchase and prepare daily meals, do laundry, personal hygiene as needed, provide mental and physical stimulation. Take to appointments and maintain the home. I live in all but 6 days per month. This is a very responsible position and the tasks provide me with professional stimulation. I love the challenge. I especially like the growth in knowledge it provides.
