I took care of my mother for one year. She had lymphoma. I was responsible for taking her to all her doctor appointments, bathing, helping her dress, emergency room visits and preparing meals. Every Saturday, while my grandmother was alive I would take her on errands, shopping and wherever she wanted to go. It was a good feeling knowing she was happy getting out and enjoying her day with me. There was great satisfaction helping my mom to be as comfortable as possible with her illness. There were many trips to the emergency room. I was by her side the whole time. I enjoy knowing I am helping someone with their daily life. I have just retired from 27 years working for Head Start as a teacher in the classroom (11 years). I worked with preschoolers and parents to give their child the necessary skills to start in public school. Consider me as a great caregiver for your 75-year-old mom. I know how special she is to you.
