Also, I assisted with giving her meds and assisted her with her physical therapy when she had knee replacement in 1990. I also cleaned her home for her. I was a patient aide at Western State Hospital from 1998 until 2006. I provided patient care to all ages over 18. We had geriatric patients. I am CPR certified. I just took a CNA course at Hopkinsville Community College and will soon be taking the CNA exam. I am in the process of working toward a degree in nursing. I am a caring and compassionate person who enjoys working with elderly people. An elderly person can tell you so much about their experiences in life and teach you so much about life. I feel they deserve the best care they can get in their later years. I also helped take care of my father until he passed away in March 2011. I am competent in taking vital signs and am CPR certified. I believe that a person should be able to stay in their own home if at all possible, because a lot of the skilled care nursing facilities are understaffed and the clients do not get enough 1 on 1 time.
