I have been a care giver for the last 10 years. My husband became paralyzed in 2004 and out of necessity I became his full time caregiver. He passed away in 2009 and I began using my skills I had learned to help others. I have helped care for hospice patients, including my mother, which allows families to have much needed respite care. My hours are flexible and I can work weekends. My job duties have included, but are not limited to - bathing, help with walking, meal preparation, help with feeding, giving meds, light housekeeping, wound care, and physical therapy. I have also stayed with patients in the hospital so that families can continue to work or just need a break. The most enjoyable part of what I do is try to engage my clients in activities that they love and to keep them moving within their abilities.
