I have worked with seniors for 18 years in my job as a bedside nurse. A few years ago I moved back to my childhood home to live with and assist my elderly mother and adult Down Syndrome brother so they could stay on the family farm until my mom passed away. As an experienced critical care and ER nurse, I was comfortable with the health issues they both battled. It was a wonderful time and I cherish those memories. I have great admiration and respect for the elderly population and enjoy my interactions with them. I enjoy listening to their accounts of the roads they paved for themselves in an environment lacking in the technology and creature comforts we are so accustomed to. I grew up in the Midwest as part of a large family where we all were expected to do "our share" as needed, indoors or out. I'm a "caregiver" by nature and have been fortunate to work in an environment where I can make a difference in someone's life and have met some wonderful people and listened to amazing stories. I love animals and the outdoors, read for fun and am never, ever bored. I moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex recently to be near my grandchildren. I'm waiting on my Texas license.
