I am 50 years old and I have 2 grown, adult children. I have been a medical assistant for 25 years. I am CPR certified, as well as certified in standard First Aid. In addition to this, I have been a Pharmacy Technician, live-in home caregiver and multi-tasker extraordinaire! I am seeking full-time work or several part-time positions. My care giving experience is as follows:
My stepfather had cancer and dementia. My mother had a seizure disorder and dementia. My husband had prostate cancer and several major heart surgeries resulting in valve transplant that ultimately took his life in May 2009.
I was the day aide at a group home in Bloomington, Indiana for adults with developmental and physical disabilities. There were 7 adults ranging in age from 40-85. The disabilities included brittle diabetic, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism and Alzheimer's. I did this during the day and at night I was the live-in caregiver to a doctor and his wife. I cared for the wife. She has severe Alzheimer's disease and no mobility whatsoever. I was with both of those jobs for 1 1/2 years. I then moved back to Florida and was a live-in caregiver. This client had mild dementia and mobility issues. I was with her for 8 months. I then took a job as a live-in caregiver for another client in Palm Coast, FL. She has freezing type Parkinson's and has extremely limited mobility. I am happy to forward my resume upon request. I also have several recorded references here on Care. com that you can access.
