Though I accidentally found my passion for being a senior care provider, I have almost 9 solid years of experience in this field. Initially I was a hospice patient volunteer, involved in reading, spending their mealtime together, and basically being there in any way needed. Ultimately my journey brought to the most rewarding experience, that being have the privilege of caring for both of my parents for the last almost 9 years. My "job" with them began as simply a daughter. At approximately the same point in time, the health of both of them began to fail so I took on more responsibility. Both diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia, their deterioration was very sad and lengthy. So my responsibilities began with driving them to and from doctors, grocery stores, etc, taking care of doctor appointments, and all medication preparation and all household and pet care, to meal preparation. As years when on and they needed medical care live in help, my time with them became more of companionship, reading to them, playing games to keep them mentally stimulated, taking walks and simply being there for them any way I was needed. And now it would my privilege to offer my time to someone else.
