I have vast experience in caring for people of all ages and needs. I have many years nursing experience as well as helping people in their homes as a caregiver and as a visiting nurse. I'm passionate about care work which is why I chose nursing as my profession, and feel I have a lot to offer as a person who is compassionate, humble, responsible, attentive, mature, interested, and open to learn and attend to what is called for in the moment. I work with the elderly and in special needs, and have a few specific talents which I bring to the client. Besides my nursing experience, I'm a massage therapist and a certified counselor, helping people to gain greater clarity and peace and understanding. I also am quite knowledgeable in nutrition and am a good resource for those in need of dietary change.
I'm happy to take people out to appointments or excursions, and have a station wagon which easily fits a wheelchair.
I'm available to help people for a shift of 4 or more hours, depending on my present work-load. I'm also available for 1-2 hour counseling sessions or physical therapy type exercises.
I presently work part-time with a person with spina bifida. I work both as a care manager/provider and personal assistant. It's very gratifying work as I'm able to offer assistance on many different levels. I manage all of her doctor's appointments, surgeries, personal care, other employees, her pets, food, shopping, Medicare paperwork (such as getting a new wheelchair), etc. I'm happy to take care of whatever the present need is. I also work as a care manager for a person with a rare disease. I do physical therapy with a woman who had a stroke, help an 86-year-old go to appointments, the opera and symphony. I take another client shopping weekly.
On a personal note, I'm 56 - my husband is from Spain, so we are a bilingual family and have lived in Costa Rica and Spain. We have a 21-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter. I enjoy walking in the forest, swimming and dancing, and have quite a few intellectual interests.. I'm originally from Charleston, S. C. and have lived in many parts of the U. S. and the rest of the world. I'm enjoying the Bay Area immensely, and plan to be here for a while.
