I spent many years visiting my grandma, taking her shopping, to appointments, out to eat, or helping her around the house. She told me great stories, and we made many meals together. I miss her, dearly, but she went to be with the Lord, earlier this year. I've worked in assisted living homes, and home-health, as a CNA, years ago and have experience with Alzheimer's.
My mom needed assistance last year after her stroke, and I lived with her.
More recently (Spring 2011), I worked with a lady who had 1st stage Dementia. She just needed someone to be with her, most of the day. I had the late afternoon/evenings with her, as a companion, we would go on walks, go shopping, eat out, or play games and watch TV at her house.
