I cared for three elderly individuals in the past three years. My duties were to help them with their showering and getting dressed, giving medication, taking to all appointments, preparing and cooking meals, doing laundry and light housekeeping, ironing clothes and most of all being a companion to listen to them. I enjoy this type of work because I feel I am doing more than a job. I am spending my time with people who need a friend and I sincerely enjoy being around elderly people because most of them have no one else to take care of them. It also helps me to realize what could happen to me when I'm up in years. I hope I will have someone like me who takes their time to be with those elderly individuals who need companionship.
