I worked in an independent senior home in AZ as a catering coordinator and there also was assisted and skilled living available. I really enjoyed getting to know the residents. I recently have started being a companion for a friend's aunt. This has made me realize what a need there is for someone just to be a friend and help to ensure the safety of our seniors. I mainly just treat her as a person, deserving of respect and helping her keep her dignity. She uses a walker or a cane. I also help her keep track of her expenses, take her shopping, out for lunch, do errands, visit with her and anything she chooses to do. I really enjoy being with her, and know it makes her happy. I started helping my friend with her aunt and find it very fulfilling and realized there are more people with similar situations that might need my help. I've not dealt with many medical issues but I am not adverse to being trained. I also like animals so if your loved one has pets, I would happily help with the pets also. I just feel that whatever can be done to improve the quality of life for our seniors is something I want to be a part of to help! I am a clean, honest, caring, personable, responsible and kind person. I'm willing to cook, light cleaning, driving, and socialize.
