I cared for my aunt after she had mini strokes and had to be in rehab and then admitted later to a nursing home. I visited her in rehab, read to her, took her outside, spent time talking with her, brushed her hair, took her laundry home and washed it, bought her clothes when needed. I was able to apply and get medicare and medicaid for her as I had her Power of Attorney. I researched and though it was difficult, was able to get her into a nursing home that was able give her more care. I am very good with older people and relate to them well. I'm easy to talk with and a good listener. You can learn a lot from elders. I am married so I would not be able to accept a live-in situation, but I would be available full time. I am very responsible and dedicated to my work. I have done mostly office work for the past 30 years and am burnt out from it. I've recently completed Medical Assisting at Bucks County Community College, which I feel will be useful to caring for people.
