I have more than 10 years experience providing services to seniors, with moderate health and physical/mental limitations. I provide housekeeping, meal prep/clean-up, laundry/ironing, grocery shopping, excursions, personal care, companionship and personal interaction to stimulate memory and awareness. I undertake special projects and organization to streamline daily activities for increased ease and independence. I encourage involvement and interaction to allow individuals the opportunity to play the lead in their life's activities. Many feel they have lost their rights to participate in their own future. They have a need to express their preferences, and whenever prudent should be encouraged to make choices that affect the quality of their daily lives. Losing one's ability to function independently often causes depression, which responds well to personal interaction. I have experienced much satisfaction in this area. My positive attitude and matter-of-fact demeanor usually allow me the leeway to perform tasks as if I live in the home, rather than making them focus on what they are no longer able to do. Comradery is essential to their sense of well-being.
