My name is Kathleen and I'm interested in finding a caregiver position. I don't have a proper resume put together, but I'd like to tell you about myself.

I went to college to open a daycare for children and instead ended up birthing my own daycare! My husband John and I have been married for 31 years and have raised our family of seven in Wixom for the last 27 years. I am here to stay.

My initiation into geriatrics occurred when my husband and I took my mother-in-law in and cared for her for 2 years (in addition to my brand-new twin babies!). She suffered from dementia, lupus, and was wheelchair-bound with advanced rheumatoid arthritis. She wore a catheter, and I provided 24-7 care for her for almost three years in my home.

I followed this by sequentially caring for my own grandmother, my father, and my mother during their illnesses, which ranged from cancer to gastrointestinal abscess requiring a long-term colostomy.

Professionally, I was employed to care for a very bright and articulate woman who was convalescing at home in Brighton following a stroke. I cared for her from 1990 until her passing in 1995. My duties included meal preparation, bathing, diaper changes, etc.
