I graduated from Penn State University in May of 2010. While studying at University Park, I majored in Human Development and Family Studies. I chose my specific major because I honestly have a natural affinity for helping people in need. My primary fields of study included counseling, mental health disorders, and the life stages of adolescents and adults.

I have many years of experience working with senior citizens. This past summer I worked at Silverstream Center as a recreational therapy assistant. I encouraged our residents to participate in numerous activities and organized many different social events. I instructed exercise classes, trivia games, gardening lessons, and holiday parties. Silverstream included individuals of all ages with various mental health concerns, from alcoholism and drug addiction to dementia and Alzheimer's disease. During my last semester of college, in accordance with my college credits, I completed an internship at a senior citizen community in State College, the Village at Penn State. This residency was primarily comprised of independent individuals, residents in assisted living facilities, and individuals who required skilled nursing care due to dementia, Alzheimer's, and other physical needs. Prior to this internship I worked at two other senior care communities during my high school and early college years, which included work in the activities department and the dining room. Also, I was fortunate enough to live with my grandmother my entire life. When she developed Alzheimer's disease, my family and I were her primary caregivers and assisted her with daily activities until she needed to move into a nursing home.
