The only experience caring for seniors that I have would be the last 3 to 5 years of my parents lives. I saw them basically every day and spent many hours keeping them company. My father the last few years was basically a stay at home person, lost interest in doing things. He also suffered from dementia. My mother loved to play cards and we would play rummy by the hour. Or we would wander around K-Mart (she loved K-Mart). Or sometimes we would just get in the car and go out to Prairie Gardens (one of her favorite stores) and walk around. Just anywhere she wanted to go, we would go. She was ready to go on a moments notice. I would go to some of their doctor appointments, do their errands, help them get their groceries, fix a meal and basically anything they needed. My sister and I always tried to be there for them.
