First, I began working for them (for the third time) with the understanding that I would not be able to work for them long term unless the hours were full time as I did not have a place to live and would not be able to secure housing on the amount they would be paying me. The arrangement was temporary for weekends only (three days on, four days off with live-in the three days I worked). The remainder of the week I had no place to live. I told them that I would work for them as long as I could, but would be looking for a job that could fit my needs. Also, as part of the agreement, they were to provide me money for meals and consistent hours. Neither of which did they comply with. There mother was taken from rehab, where she had been following a fall resulting in a broken hip with a previous caretaker, to a hospital with pneumonia while I was working for them and staying at the hospital with their mother. After her stay, their mother was taken to another rehab facility in which I stayed with her and attended physical therapy to insure that I was prepared to properly assist her upon returning home. It was during this time that it became clear to me that it would not be safe for me to care for their mother. I told them more than a week prior to leaving, that if their mother were to begin falling, I would not be able to keep her safe. They didn't want to hear that and shrugged it off as they stated they would get a Hoyer Lift. I tried to explain that there was still lifting involved and that their mother was too large for me to assist if she were not able to do more on her own. During that last week, I texted them, their choice of communication, that I would not be going back the following weekend. They did not reply to me and all communication had stopped until they began calling and speaking rudely on my voice mail, which I chose not to respond to and be subjected to their harassing comments.
