I have always been told that "I speak well beyond my years", and I've always taken out time to sit and listen to my elders in my church. Everything really hit me in 1994 when my mother had her first heart attack; then it was the very next year when she under went a triple bi-pass surgery, and she hand to move in with me, my husband, and two daughters. This was my mother, so I took a leave of absence from work and cared for her just as she had for me as a child. It took sometime for her to return to her apartment alone but God helped me to bring her back stronger than ever. She went back home, church and our weekly shopping life was good again. Then she had a light stroke in 2001 again God pulled her through. Until June 2005 my mother had a stroke and had to go to therapy and she wasn't herself; she was scared if I would leave and she was starting to forget things. Once again I took a leave from teaching and begin to stay for all therapy sessions and all meal times. From there she went home with me and she begin to start back speaking normal and about things that we both could share a laugh about. My mother stayed with my family until her last day. The second time was with my mother-in-law.
