My father had Alzheimer's disease but it wasn't called that when we as a family had to care for him. It was "old timer's disease". My mother was the primary care giver and refused much of our help but she allowed me to shave him and with his baths. It was the most rewarding time of my adult life because he helped give me life and at times he didn't know me but I was there for him when he needed me.
I also spent two years working for Home Instead caring for lady seniors with dementia. I cooked simple meals, put them into containers labeled with dates and placed in fridge. I also helped with med reminders and did errands as well as spent quality time working puzzles, washing clothes and going with and or doing grocery shopping. This was very rewarding as I am beginning to have trouble standing for long periods of time.

I also love children especially babies. I am not a registered care giver but a mother and grandmother. I will be retiring in October of this year and after my husband and I return from wintering in Florida (we plan on spending some of January and most of February camping in our 5th wheel camper) I will be looking for something to occupy my mind besides reading and crocheting. Whoever hires me would need a back up for when we travel which will only be occasionally.
