I'm a young 50ish woman, who loves people, loves to care, help & teach people. I was a teacher,-15 years, experienced as nurse's assistant at convalescent & regular hospitals. I've been a live-in caregiver to a 91 year old gentleman for over a year now. He's a wonderful man sadly ailing w/Alzheimer's. He was a 30+ year music minister/teacher, and a pilot in WW2. A great man. I get him up every day, shower, (had safety bars put in and a little flip down seat). I put his clothes out for him and help him dress, help him brush his teeth, shave, cut his nails, take him to adult daycare 2 times a week for socialization & liveliness activities (been very good for him), got him to take the program's bus now & he loves it! We call it "church social day". I give him his meds daily and make sure the family reorders. I wash laundry nearly every day to keep things smelling clean. I cook and prepare all meals for him to eat. Breakfast around 8, lunch at 12, dinner at 5. I had his family get him a walker and we go for walks. He didn't want it at first, but after me making silly jokes and sharing seriousness he now likes it fine. I tuck him in bed at 7ish. My off days are Sat & Sun 9/10 a.m. to 9ish.
