I am currently a Hospital Elder Life Care Volunteer at the Morristown Memorial Hospital Medical Center. I assist medical staff in the Elder Life Management Program (HELP) by visiting hospitalized older adult patients daily and providing assistance with orienting, therapeutic activities, walking and/or exercising, meal assistance, and to provide empathetic support as well as companionship for older patients and families coping with acute illness and hospitalization. I've taken the opportunity to familiarize myself with various aspects of the medical field, including geriatrics with a view to a possible career in medicine. I am also building experience and a resume in the field of medicine.

Skills and Qualities:
* I'm reliable and caring; enjoy working with older patients.
* Discreet, empathetic behavior and ability to exercise diplomacy in talking to the leery patients, patient's family and staff .
* The ability to work independently and assume responsibility while providing non-clinical care.
* The ability to refer questions to staff as needed.

I was also a volunteer at the Morristown Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Center. I assisted medical staff at the Morristown Memorial Hospital with post-operation care of patients, for example, physical therapy.
