I am 48 years old. I have been married for 30 years and have 3 adult children & 4 grandchildren. I am 2 classes short for my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Some of my education has been geared towards seniors. My parents are in their eighties & many days my mother needs help & I have been there for her for the past 10 years. I have also taken care of one other senior for 6 years who has passed on last year. I have done housekeeping, cooking, taking her to doctor appointments, helping with errands, finances & companionship. So, I would say I have 10 years personal experience & 6 years paid experience. I am passionate about seniors mainly because of my Mom. My Mom was such an active woman, and now her mind is still active by her body isn't. It is really hard to watch her get frustrated because she can't do simple things like cook for my Dad or go shopping. Helping my Mom is kind of a selfish act on my part, because it really makes me feel good. For example, when my Mom is having a hard day & she knows that the laundry needs to get done & she walks in & sees that I did it for her, the look on her face is priceless. Don't get my wrong I also do understand that I can not come in & do everything for them. This will make them feel that they are useless, there is a balance to everything. I also understand that some seniors need someone to take them to the doctor, help with grocery shopping, housekeeping, & cooking. Maybe you just need someone to sit and do crafts with (which I love to do)or just listen to them. I am trustworthy, dependable, & honest. If you are interested please contact me. Thank you, Denise
