I have spent the last 4 years taking care of little children from ages to 5 months to 2. 5 years of age. During this time I had my mom come and live with me. Mom was 85 and had always lived alone and did quite well. My siblings, brother and sister, decided it was time to get her out of her house (downsize) and move in with me. Although mom was a licensed real estate broker and could still sell a house, I felt she needed a little more TLC, cooking, grocery shopping and general loving care. I truly feel having someone there makes such a huge difference. Its like you are not forgotten and spending your days alone (albeit, some of us like time alone). I did all the things you would do, if needed, doctors visits, pharmacy pickups, laundry, anything I could do that she did not feel up to on certain days. It was up to her what she wanted and when. My mom passed in February 2012 and it was then I decided to give back more to seniors (like mom) who just need to feel wanted and loved, not smothered and made to feel helpless, just needed and happy. I hope this makes sense to you. As our parents age, and we are all so busy, we forget, not on purpose that our seniors have many great years ahead!
