12 years working on the Orthopedic/med surg floor of a hospital. I cared for medical patients, surgical ptsand patients that had elective surgery for joint replacement. I taught the class for our patients that were facing knee or hip replacement. I followed these patients coordinating physical therapies etc and discharge to rehab or home with therapy. I am experienced at pain management and med dispersement keeping the patients needs my 1st priority. I worked at a Sr. Assisted Living Facility as the wellness nurse and oversaw the med dispersement for 132 of our residents. I was responsible for assessing residents while they were at rehab to see if they were still able to live in a assisted living facility safely. I keep independence for Seniors forthright in my mind I want to do all I can to keep them in their own homes as long as possible where they are comfortable. Most Seniors would like to be in their own "home" rather than in a "Resthome" I can make this possible by caring for these people in their homes using my nursing skills to keep them independent. I have family that I am doing this with right now and they are very content to stay in their house.
