When it comes to caring for the elderly, I strive to make them feel as independent as possible. While I am there to help, I don't want to baby them and make them feel as if they can't do anything on their own. I can do vital signs, nutritional plan and preparation, personal care, housekeeping, etc. I also know how it is to be lonely, so part of my job means providing companionship. If able, I like to take my patient(s) to the park for picnics, walks and just some time out of the home. We can play a game of cards, a board game, or discuss books, films, music and anything that engages them and puts a smile on their face.
