I worked as a full-time independent caregiver for two years for a 91-year-old, who lived in a mobile home park for seniors. I stayed overnights to oversee the needs of this individual. I helped with dressing, bathing, meal preparation, grocery shopping, toiletry issues, medication dispensing, doctors' appointments and basic housekeeping (laundry, making beds, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning). I took care of this individual as if she was a family member or my mom. I have a very caring nature and enjoy doing this line of work. I moved to the Portland area, to be close to my mom after my dad died. When her eyesight started to go, I would check on her during the week after work to see how she was doing. I would do odd jobs that needed to be done around her place. I would take her on day trips and out to lunch or dinner. I also cared for my mom who was in her 80's when she broke her wrist. I take her grocery shopping, to physical therapy, doctors' appointments, did housework, laundry and folded clothes. I did her bank statement for her.
