I have worked in the health field for many years. My first position was an aide at 16 in a nursing home. The Seniors/Elderly have always been my favorite to work with. I felt that it was an exchange between us. They sharing their life experiences and stories, lessons to learn from. I have always been grateful for encounters with them. I had worked in the Mental Health for 25 + years as a Training and Social Rehabilitation Specialist. This included a Hospital Day Program, a Social/ Drop In Center. I went to Personal Care Homes, Nursing Homes and private residences to do activities with the elderly some with dementia or Alzheimer's, others with physical disabilities. I taught daily living skills to persons of all ages that were in group homes or living independently, which included shopping for well balanced healthy food choices and teaching or preparing meals. I Helped with their bills, appointments , housekeeping, hygiene and etc. what ever was needed. If they were unable to do any or all of the above tasks I was the caretaker for them.
