I am the oldest of six siblings, and I have a mother who has medical conditions that I had to help her with. I had to take care of my brothers and sisters from a young age, which I think is what made me want to go into healthcare.

I really enjoy being able to help others, and help them with just day to day things. Since I was sixteen I have been occasionally doing in home care assisting, with my mother who was a nurse, being paid as a care giver.

As I got older I started helping families on my own, and grew to love helping children with disabilities, and the elderly. To me it is so rewarding to sit and play chess with an elder who really just needs a friend to help them, or to be able to converse and hear about their life. Also, I have experience helping with personal hygiene, cooking, transportation, and doing errands.

I have taken care of elderly people who experience Alzheimer's, and know that it can be frightening at first.
However, I have learned if there is someone there everyday that cares about them, it makes it a bit easier.
