Hi I'm Brittany! I am 22 years old, have been a CNA for 6 years this June and am currently working full time during the day (6 a.m. to 2 p.m. ) as the head CNA on a dementia unit at an Assisted Living Home. I've mostly worked on dementia units dealing with residents who are at many different stages of Dementia/Alzheimer's. It can be a challenge at times to deal with all the behaviors, but that's what makes my job interesting and keeps my mind going. Figuring out distractions for the resident who wants to "go home" and what the residents "world salad" really means are what keeps me on my toes and mind going. You have to know the persons interests, their past jobs, family life and be able to go into their reality instead of looking from your point of view. I love my job, but I've always wanted more one on one time with the people I care for, since I have only worked at fast pace assisted living/nursing homes and thought home care a few days a week would be a good way to get that. I am open to learn as much as possible about the person I'm caring for and do whatever he or she needs for personal care. I will answer any questions you might have :)!
