My name is Betty and I have both a medical and teaching background. I began caring for my grandmother after my mother passed unexpectedly. She did not have Alzheimer's, but my uncle did, whom I adored. I cared for my granny before and after she became bed-bound. I did all of the necessary caring and cleaning and bathing and entertaining and engaging of my granny until she expired 5 days short of her 100th birthday. I volunteered 3 evenings a week at our neighborhood Elder Care Center and do well with infants and elders. They employed me for 3 years. I am patient and understanding of difficulty and confusion. I would very much like to speak to families who expect total trust and patience for their elders.
