I have been a caregiver for over 14 years now. My recent employment is in an establishment for folks who suffer from Alzheimer's and dementia. I have anywhere between
12-14 residents I take care of on a daily basis, along with assisting the other residents throughout their day (which is a total of 40 residents). Depending on the need of the resident, I do everything from their personal care, helping to eat, laundry, shower, shave, change beds, clean rooms, help with medications, activities, visit, etc. These folks depend on me for many of their daily functions.
I enjoy taking care of others, especially being able to help an individual stay in their own home. I moved back to Florida from Boise, Idaho, a little over a year ago. I was working for a caregiving company and taking care of a wonderful woman for over a year, who has Alzheimer's. I have been blessed to take care of many wonderful people who suffer from this disease. One of my clients was a lovely woman who suffered from Alzheimer's for four and a half years until her passing in July of 2008. Another of my previous jobs (began in March of 2009) was taking care of a woman who had knee surgery, but I stayed on longer after her husband passed away from a stroke. My job for her completed on October 1st of 2009.
I take great pride in my work and I always do whatever it takes to help the family, keep their loved one in their own home. I do not drive a car. I ride my bike everywhere, along with taking public transportation. I have never been late for work or have missed a day of work due to my choice of transportation. Thank you for your consideration.
