In 1997, I became an LPN and immediately was hired as a charge nurse for a local nursing home in my hometown, until January 2004 when I had a difficulty pregnancy and had to stop working. After the birth of my daughter in 2004, I decided I did not want to return to practice right away and then in 2005 I became a part-time care-giver for my elderly parents. My plans to return to full time practice have been put on hold to help with my parents being my daughter is doing well in school. In the meantime, I have kept my LPN license active and have obtained two health-related bachelor's degrees, in business administration/healthcare administration (2009) and another in Professional Development in Advanced Patient Care (2011). I am currently going to school online at Ashford University working on my MS in Healthcare Administration, I am also working gradually on obtaining my Associate in Nursing Degree (RN) too. I am a care-giver by call, I believe and and solely believe in the servant-leadership model where I can lead as well as serve others at the same time and I did this my entire time working in a local nursing home for almost 7 years.
