One of the most difficult conversations families face is how to handle end of life care when a loved one has a diagnosis of less than six months life expectancy. Although it is difficult, end-of-life preparation actually makes the process easier and allows families to focus on their loved one and not worry about finding proper care.

Hospice

Often, families choose hospice for a loved one who does not want or cannot be helped by further medical treatments. Hospice focuses on palliative care and the comfort and pain relief of their patients rather than medical treatment.  The individual controls the treatment plan and hospice staff works with the attending physician to formulate the best treatment.  The care can be given wherever the individual is most comfortable - a private home, a nursing home, or a hospice facility.
