I believe that you deserve to have a caregiver who is experienced in providing the services that are needed in your home. I don't believe in "on the job training!" I am a college graduate adult mental health social worker/caregiver who has worked for years and have a strong employment history in caring for seniors as well as children and young adults. I even recommend clients perform multiple interviews with each prospective caregiver and obtain references from reliable sources (previous clients, agencies, health-care institutions, religious and volunteer organizations, etc.) before the person is hired. This ensures a decision that you will be comfortable with.
Equally important, please note that I respect and honor the fact that you are in charge of everything. Because I am a non-medical caregiver and not a nursing agency, I will not dictate to you what your schedule is to be (i.e. what time to wake up, when to bathe, meal schedules, etc.) unless this is your personal request/requirement. You are the boss. It is my job to adjust to your schedule and to keep you comfortable in your home. I will never compromise on providing high quality services to you or your family member. Don't ever believe that you can't afford a top quality caregiver.
