I am a certified care giver. I am CPR/First Aid certified and plan to finish school to get my CNA. I have taken care of a 90-year-old woman with Alzheimer's. She was basically a total care. She did not know how to function on her own. I would wake her in morning, bathe, dress, cook breakfast, give meds, clean and sanitize bedding and laundry. I would do household chores. I love working with the elderly. I have a lot of respect for them. I would socialize and take her outside or to doctor's appointments. I was a friend as well. I have also helped care for a 92-year-old man with lung cancer. Also I cared for a married elderly couple. The husband had liver failure and was sent home from the hospital and his wife had Alzheimer's. I cared for them on 13 hour nightly shifts.
