Through visiting nursing homes and volunteering for hospice, I have interacted with the aging. I have worked directly with the mentally and physically disabled persons whom have similar needs to the aging. Over two years ago, my grandmother had a stroke and died, which propelled my mind in thinking what her life would have been like if she lived. Also, this last year one of the seminars I attended was on the aging and what all is involved in caring for them and their families. These two events together have spurred my interest in caring for the aging and their families. I am currently attending Bethany University and will be entering my second year of graduate school to receive my master's in clinical psychology. One of the populations I intend on working with is the aging and their families.
