I am a proponent of inter-generational relationships, as they are beneficial for the mental health of people of all ages. In college, I am pursuing a certificate in gerontology in addition to my early childhood and elementary education degree because I enjoy working with all types of people. Additionally, my grandparents played a large role in raising me, and I have so much love and respect for them and their peers. My experience with older adults includes volunteering at the local nursing home throughout my high school career; I co-founded a service club and we started a program called "Adopt a Grandparent" at Wallingford Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. I still visit a resident now, six years later, who has become my good friend.
