I was raised by my grandparents as a child, so I have a lot of love and care for senior adults. When my grandmother was ill with cancer, she lived with me and I took care of her until she had to go into the hospital. She had dementia so I understand how hard that can be on a family. I respect senior citizen's need for independence but also understand their need for assistance and companionship. I have some things in common with a lot of senior citizens so I have lots of topics I can discuss with them and make them feel comfortable (e.g., I can quilt, sew, can, etc.). I worked for many years as an education minister in churches and worked with adult Sunday school and senior ministries.
