In the early 1980s, I was a volunteer at a nursing home where I assisted the elderly by bathing them, changing their clothes, and fixing their hair. I also passed trays of food to the elderly at mealtimes and fed them, if necessary. Moreover, I worked at a facility for disabled children where I entertained the children by playing games with them. I also helped with their education by teaching them the alphabet. In addition, I assisted the children with their grooming by helping them brush their teeth, comb their hair and use the restroom. Moreover, in the mid-1980s, I assisted an elderly couple by performing light housekeeping and cooking. I accompanied the wife to the store and attended to other errands. I also assisted the wife in her daily activities of using the restroom, taking her medication, and any other requests she made.

After my time volunteering and working for the elderly and disabled, I focused on raising my two children. During that time, I owned and operated several of my own businesses dealing with hair salons, a general merchandise store, and dry cleaning businesses. Now that I have ended that part of my career as a business owner, I want to return to assisting the elderly in their daily lives. I find that my past experiences working with the elderly was truly rewarding. I am a compassionate and caring person and feel that those qualities will make me an excellent caregiver to the elderly.

I enjoy reading, walking, sewing, and knitting.
