My grandmother took in older folks to her home when they had no family that could, would, or they just didn't need to be at a nursing home. We're all going to get older and we all will need some type of assistance at one point or another, whether we admit it or not. I've been assisting my 80 year-old neighbor now for several years doing things that she can't do, can't figure out, or perhaps just doesn't want to do. She has been a vibrant single mom, raised four kids, and they aren't close enough to help or won't.
