CARE.COM FOUNDER & CEO SELECTED FOR FORTUNE MOST POWERFUL WOMEN SUMMIT
Waltham, MA-October 5, 2009-Fortune Magazine chose Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO of Care.com, as one of a select group of ten female emerging entrepreneurs to participate in its annual Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit.
"We're very excited to support this new program that targets entrepreneurial women who are game changers, ground-breakers and innovators in their fields, such as Sheila Lirio Marcelo," said Pattie Sellers, Fortune Editor at Large and Chair of the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit.
As one of the honorees, Marcelo joined 400 of the world's most powerful and outstanding female leaders for the three-day summit. From September 14-16, she and the others participated in a series of interactive sessions and panel discussions-including one on women in business introduced by Warren Buffett. The theme for this year's event was Betting on the Future. Attendees discussed the various obstacles shaping today's businesses, charities, educational organizations and governments.
"It was an honor to attend a summit with some of the most influential women in the world," said Marcelo. "For three days, I was in awe of the achievements of women and seeing how we are helping reshape the world for the next generation of female leaders. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to those efforts and will continue to work to empower and mentor other women."
